Capacity-building

The COP encouraged all Parties, in a position to do so, to support capacity-building, provide technical assistance, as well as facilitate the transfer of technology to improve, inter alia, data collection, estimation of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, monitoring and reporting, and address the institutional needs of developing countries to estimate and reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. In particular, these Parties and relevant international organizations are invited to enhance capacity-building in relation to IPCC guidance and guidelines and to the development and assessment of reference levels.

Thus, a range of ongoing activities and cooperative efforts are being undertaken by Parties and international organizations, including capacity-building, testing methodologies and monitoring approaches.
